For you us of wishful thinking accuses, there is every reason to believe that the GR Aygo X can ever become a reality. Arguments for a GR Aygo X we find not only in our imagination but also in the chassis of the car. The A-segmenter shares a large part of its platform with the Toyota Yaris, and it is already there as a GR version. Some parts that make the GR Yaris such a fun rocket might well find a new home on the Aygo X. And to name a few: the project leader for the development of this Aygo X was Vlaming Stijn Peters, also by chance the inspirer of the Yaris GRMN at the time. If that best man already got such an inspiration from seeing the previous generation Toyota Yaris, then the idea may not have escaped him during the development of this Aygo X …

On the other hand, there is little chance that Toyota would lower the sales figures of its GR Yaris by offering a similar Aygo version. In addition, the Aygo X is currently also only offered with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder block with 72 hp. Any gain in power would therefore be limited in any case. If Gazoo Racing does anything with the Aygo X, it seems to us more likely that the result will be a sports car of a lighter caliber – like Renault Sport did a few years ago with the Twingo GT.
