Tottenham Hotspur lost in the Premier League competition. The match against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium ended in a 1-3 defeat. All three goals scored by the home team came in the first half, with one reply in the next half from Spurs.
This defeat ensured Tottenham got a disappointing result in three consecutive matches. Defeats to Crystal Palace and Chelsea saw Spurs drop to 11th in the standings. Tottenham have nine points from six games, five behind leaders Liverpool.
Nuno Espirito Santo emphasized his responsibility for this defeat, although he highlighted the players who he said did not implement the existing plan. Lucas Moura, Tottenham winger, admitted the players in his team did not show adequate struggle in this match.
“I think they managed to take advantage of the mistakes we made. We gave them too much space. We are not fighting, not fighting at all. We didn’t try to have the ball. We have the quality to not perform like this.”
“We should have been more aggressive, failing to do that cost us the game. We should be able to use possession more effectively and fight harder to build an attack scheme,” Lucas Moura was quoted as saying by The Athletic.
Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to get back to winning ways in the next two games. Lucas Moura and his teammates will face Mura in the UEFA Conference League, and then face Aston Villa in the Premier League.
