The sports court of the DFB has set Benjamin Pavard’s sentence: Bayern Munich will miss the defender in the next two games.
In the undisputed 3-1 success in Fürth, Pavard saw the red card shortly after the kick-off of the second half after catching Julian Green on the ankle. The Frenchman was banned by the DFB sports court on Monday for “rough play against the opponent” for two championship games.
Pavard will be against FC Bayern against Eintracht Frankfurt (October 3) and Bayer 04 Leverkusen (October 17). unavailable – young Josip Stanisic is believed to be the most likely option to take his place in the back right.
Julian Nagelsmann had already criticized his protégé for the stupid dismissal after the game, after all, Lucas Hernandez would have been there to catch Green before a shot on goal.
“I think the tackle wasn’t absolutely necessary now. We can still defend it like that,” said the Bayern coach DAZN (via kicker). “I also think that this is a red card. It affects the Achilles tendon, which is usually not such a good area for straddling.”
