Hardly having arrived at Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo is already showing himself to be the leader of the troop. In this role, he even wants to take the entire Red Devil squad nutrition plan to a more professional level. Not all teammates are enthusiastic about this.
At 36 years old, Cristiano Ronaldo is still fit. Fitter than many a younger professional colleague. Of course, this enviable state of fitness also has a lot to do with diet. And now he wants to pass this on to his teammates.
Like the English one Sun reported, CR7 is said to have already turned to the club’s own chef and recommended some of his favorite dishes to him. But they don’t necessarily go down well with colleagues.
One of these dishes is breaded stockfish. Prepared accordingly, a delicious and healthy dish. Also ideal for athletes due to its low fat content. But English footballers think differently.
And English gastronomy, as anyone who has spent a few days on the island knows, is not one of the most sophisticated in the world.
In any case, the superstar’s second recommendation to the chef has little to do with the ubiquitous and very popular fish and chips: squid! A favorite dish of the Portuguese – but not his teammates at Old Trafford.
An unnamed source from the club’s immediate environment said: “He likes squid, but the majority of the team don’t. He’ll definitely like it and certainly help with his diet, but not the others. Cristiano is very focused on Issues like fat levels and foods like ham slices, eggs and avocados, and the chefs try to help him as best they can. ” (via as.com)
And Cristiano’s influence goes even further. Right down to dessert. A few weeks ago, his team-mate, substitute goalkeeper Lee Grant, chatted a bit out of the culinary sewing box when he said that since the Portuguese arrived, nobody dares to break into the cake buffet in the afternoon.
“I can guarantee,” says Grant, “that not a single person has even touched the apple pie. The brownies also remained untouched.”
And then the goalie added with a slightly mischievous smile: “Maybe Ronnie wants to convert us to Portuguese cuisine, but who had thought it was the ‘chicken peri-peri-style’ from the ‘Nandos’ [einem berühmten portugiesischen Restaurant in Manchester, Anm. d. Red.] acts, will probably be disappointed. ”
The well-known successes of the Portuguese prove him right, but apparently a mountain of persuasion is still waiting for the superstar to convince everyone in the squad of the usefulness of a balanced nutrition plan.
