VATICAN CITY, SEPTEMBER 26 – There are “new interpretations of human rights” and “in many cases, the ‘new rights’ not only contradict the values they should uphold, but are imposed despite the absence of international consensus”. Card. Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State, in a video message to the UN General Assembly. “The new partial interpretations sadly become the ideological reference point of a spurious progress” generating divisions. In this way, the protection of fundamental human rights is undermined: “the right to life, freedom of thought, conscience and religion, and freedom of opinion and expression”, underlined Parolin.
