Abdi Nageeye has finished in fifth place in his first run after the Olympic marathon. The winner of the silver at the Games in Japan ran 28.29 minutes in the 10 kilometers at the Great Manchester Run in England.
Hagenaar Khalid Choukoud, who had stomach cramps in the Olympic race over 42.195 kilometers in Sapporo, ran to seventh place in Manchester in a personal best time of 28.36.
Nageeye stayed above his Dutch record of 28.08. The 32-year-old Dutchman used the race in England as a preparation for the New York marathon on November 7. The 35-year-old Choukoud will run the Amsterdam marathon on October 17, which counts as the Dutch championship.
