The Italian top club Juventus Turin made a classic false start to the new Serie A season. Captain and European champion Georgio Chiellini now wants to speak a word of power.
At the moment it is just not working at Juventus Turin. Already in the past season they struggled to reach fourth place and thus at least managed to qualify for the Champions League.
In the current season they delivered the only really sovereign performance so far in the premier class when they were able to take a 3-0 away win at Malmö FF. But in Serie A you are 12th with only five points from the first five games – actually out of the question for the claims of the Bianconeri.
Most recently, the first three in the league could be achieved, but the 3-2 in relegation candidate Spezia Calcio did not give the impression that Juve has now gotten the curve.
For the Turin captain Georgio Chiellini it is clear that the unrest around the club will not diminish, but he urges patience.
At EURO 2020, Chiellini and his colleagues were able to celebrate the title. Mainly, the Italians owed this success to a unique team spirit and the fact that they weren’t necessarily considered top favorites before the tournament.
In Serie A, however, Juventus is considered a championship candidate every year, the ongoing lull does not fit into the image of inviolability that Turin had developed over the past decade.
The renewed move to the former successful coach Massimiliano Allegri and the loss of Cristiano Ronaldo this summer was certainly not conducive to the tense situation at Juve.
“We have to make sure to keep the ship straight on stormy seas,” Chiellini said Sky Sport Italy in the style of a real captain (via kicker).
“As with everything in life, you need time to find the right balance. And, especially after a big shock, you need time to regroup. But in today’s world there is no more patience,” said the charismatic 37 -Year-olds consider several factors.
For one thing, Allegri is not going to become a miracle healer despite his Turin past. On the other hand, the “shock” of last season has to leave the players’ heads and bones first.
Allegri’s frenzy in relation to his players in the 1-1 draw against Milan speaks volumes. “And they want to play for Juventus?” – so the trainer is said to have been furious about his men.
It will be important that Chiellini not only exert his influence in the media, but can also ensure the necessary calm in the dressing room.
But results in the league are currently the only real means to get the boat out of sway again.
