Stephan El Shaarawy, Roma winger, is experiencing a magical moment. Here’s what (maybe) you still don’t know about him …
Few would have imagined such a start to the season. Maybe he wouldn’t have done it either. Yet, Stephan El Shaarawy is the absolute protagonist of this Giallorossi start. Three goals in 148 minutes, on average one goal every 49 ‘. In the curriculum also the pearl that with Sassuolo triggered Mourinho’s race towards the South. The Pharaoh is back, nothing but lost form between China and injuries … But what are its secrets?
Stephan was born in Savona to an Egyptian father and an Italian mother. His father, Sabri, emigrated to Italy after graduating in Psychology from Cairo and, in Savona, he met Lucia, a girl with a degree in Nursing. Stephan has an older brother, Manuel, who has a degree in Economics, to whom he is very attached and who looks after his interests.
El Shaarawy is a Muslim and also for this reason he is one of the very few footballers to have no tattoos, but he does not do Ramadam and says that for him religion is above all a question of values and daily habits linked to his family. “I am a believer, but I just don’t eat pork and don’t drink”.
‘Il Faraone’ was born during the 2009/2010 Spring National Finals. After a goal in Genoa-Empoli, El Sha rejoices with Perin: the goalkeeper imitates the heron, the attacker, at his feet, mimics the typical gesture of the Egyptians with his fingers closed like a fan. Needless to say, the commentator got the ball rolling …
As a child he played in all roles, even in goal. Mezzala up to the Giovanissimi, before being moved to the left, also played on the right wing. Not only that: in the year on loan to Padova in Serie B he performed on the trocar scoring 7 goals in 25 appearances.
One day while little El Sha was in the park next to his house, a boy gave him a basketball with Michael Jordan’s printed hand on it. Stephan ran to dad telling him he wanted to leave football for basketball. He tried three days, but returned home begging him to come back to play football.
The first was Ronaldinho, then he was bewitched by Kakà with whom he was also a teammate at Milan. Every day, after school, El Shaarawy ran to see his skills on YouTube and then tried to bring them back in training.
Stephan loves snooker, a very popular billiards specialty in England. For 4 years he watched it on television because there were no facilities in Italy, then in 2014 he opened an academy in Savona and started practicing it. Now in his home in Rome – he recently bought a villa at Eur – he has a table where he often plays with Gianluca Manoli, the Italian champion.
TV AND MUSIC
He loves Troisi and Benigni, not surprisingly ‘We just have to cry‘it’s his favorite movie, while the TV series he’s passionate about are’Dexter’, ‘Prison Break’ e ‘The House of Paper‘. In the musical field, however, he prefers Hip Hop and Deep House.
His nickname in the Giallorossi locker room is ‘Lo Zio’ and he is a close friend, even off the pitch, of captain Lorenzo Pellegrini. The Colosseum is his favorite place, followed by the Orange Garden and the Janiculum. In general, Il Paraone loves places where you can see Rome from above. It is no coincidence, in fact, that among the most popular restaurants there is’The Pergola‘by Heinz Beck which offers a unique view of the capital. The relationship with Roman cuisine? Give him a cheese and pepper and you will make him happy …
