It seems that the Posbank, so popular among motorcyclists, will be completely closed to motorized traffic in the near future. The councils of the municipalities of Rheden and Rozendaal came to this choice together with Natuurmonumenten. However, it is not yet clear whether the plans will become reality.
That depends on the two city councils, which will meet on October 19 and November 2, and the Members’ Council of Natuurmonumenten. Of the interest groups that contributed ideas to the plan, 75 percent support a complete closure of the Posbank for motorized traffic.
The area would then only be accessible to cyclists and walkers. Motorized traffic can then not go further than the parking spaces Beekhuizen (near Velp), the Visitor Center (near Rheden) and the Lappendeken (near De Steeg). The plans to partially close off the area by means of a one-way route from Rheden over the Posbank to De Steeg or by means of barriers during extreme crowds have been dropped.
