Genoa – A manifestation of the anarchists, started this morning in front of the courthouse against the special surveillance of the magistrates, caused moments of tension in the historic center, in the late afternoon, when the participants, about forty people, were detained by the police in riot gear in Piazza Lavagna.
They intervened on the spot police, carabinieri and Digos: the closure of the entrances to the square was ordered, after a few moments of tension between demonstrators and men in uniform, around 7 pm.
The police have in fact decided to detain the group of demonstrators, because, according to initial information, some of them were responsible for damage. Many passers-by and residents who had to wait for the end of the access block to the square, arranged to identify the anarchists. Some locals in the square were temporarily evacuated, while the participants shouted heavy slogans against the police.
The protest started this morning before the court for a hearing for the special surveillance request of the public prosecutor Federico Manotti. The magistrate has been under escort for four years precisely because of the threats that had come to him from the anarchist area.
Around 9pm the situation slowly returned to normal, with the reopening at the entrances to Piazza Lavagna and the participants who dispersed in the alleys of the center after being identified. The calculation of the damage to the activities of the square will be done in the next few hours but it has already been ascertained that several video surveillance cameras have been destroyed.
