Ubisoft has announced the return of the Driver saga, but not in the expected way. Instead of a new game what the French company has announced is a live action series starring John Tanner, the main character in Driver: San Francisco, the latest game in the franchise. It arrived in 2011 for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PC, but it was not the success that Ubisoft expected, which meant the end of the saga.
There are still not too many details about this live action series from Driver, but according to Eurogamer, this production, contrary to what is usually usual with Ubisoft, is not from Amazon or Netflix, but from another platform called Binge that has not even been released yet. The plans are for it to start working in 2022, but for now, nothing about the possible premiere of this series.
Instead of risking a new installment of the Drver saga, it seems that Ubisoft has found in the television industry the way to revive some of its most neglected franchises, as Driver or Splinter Cell, which will have series on Netflix. Part of other productions related to Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry. In fact, one of the already confirmed Far Cry DLC will be inspired by Stranger Things, both companies have a good relationship.
In terms of games, the great launch of the year for Ubisoft is precisely Far Cry 6, which will arrive next October 7 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and PC with a new proposal of action in abundance, open world and more crazy situations, such as having a pet crocodile or firing rockets from a backpack. In addition, it has the participation of Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, The Mandalorian) playing the villain of the game, what more could you ask for?
