It was found at the crossroads leading to Col de Michiel. After 178 days from his disappearance, the wood has returned the lifeless body of Federico Lugato, the 39-year-old from Mestre who has not returned home from an excursion in the mountains of the Val di Zoldo, in the Belluno area.
It was the molecular dogs who sniffed the traces that led to the discovery of the lifeless body of the unfortunate hiker. The searches had been suspended last Monday, 12 days after the disappearance.
To attract volunteers, his wife Elena Panciera had launched a heartfelt appeal to which many people had responded. «Twelve days of research – he wrote in a note on September 6 -, even if with many means and people, they have not allowed to find him. They are not enough as an institutional effort. A missing person must be found. Also considering the fact that there is little legal clarity regarding missing persons ». The woman had also thanked «the institutions and authorities who moved to look for Federico Lugato. We want to thank them for the risks they have taken, for the resources used and their commitment. Not to mention the generosity of over 400 civilian volunteers who came to Pralongo to help us, and the availability of accommodation and catering activities in the area ».
Unfortunately their effort did not lead to the finding of Lugato in time. Now it will be the autopsy to establish how and how long Federico had lost his life.
