Claire and Derek from Rocking life on the toad were touring Greece in their camper when they ran into an unexpected guest. A little tabby came hopping, asking them for some food and attention while they sat on their deck chairs enjoying a beautiful sunset on the beach. And he was determined not to leave.
“We were in Evia, parked on a beach – says Claire -. There were no other tourists around and the only other person present at that time was a local elder taking a walk ». And the first thing they did, when they saw how much the cat had no fear of humans, was to ask him if he had seen him before. “The Greek gentleman told us that according to him he was a stray, since most of the houses in the area are for tourists and not occupied.”
“It became obvious to us that he had been left on the beach and would not survive for another 24 hours without food, water or shelter,” so they decided to adopt him. And he asked for nothing better: «I took him in my arms and in a few minutes he fell asleep in my arms. Then he immediately got into the camper », as if to say: well, when do we leave?
The next day the couple also went around asking if anyone was looking for a kitten, but no one knew about it, agreeing that it was a stray. “We couldn’t leave him there, he was so small and so hungry. So we decided to take it on a trip with us ». So “we called him Vangelis, Archangel in Greek” and he “quickly became a member of our family: he is very affectionate and has an incredible personality,” they say.
In just 10 days Vangelis «has become a skilled traveler. He sleeps soundly when we drive, he has found his space right away »and of course« he will come home with us when we return to the Isle of Man in October. This little guy will live like a king for the rest of his life. ‘
