Exclusive – Aston Villa is not alone in its interest in Leon Bailey. The Jamaican also has a number of Premier League clubs on the list.
Last week the Dailymail first reported that Aston Villa plans to sign Leon Bailey this summer. A transfer fee of 30 to 35 million euros is available – money that Bayer 04 would have used to recoup the rumored expenses for Mitchel Bakker and Odilon Kossounou. On the other hand, the Werkself would open a new construction site on the wings.
90min has learned that Aston Villa has now started talks with both Bayer 04 and Bailey’s representatives. Sources close to the player indicate that the Jamaican who is currently at the Gold Cup believes the time has come to leave Leverkusen after four and a half years.
In addition, Aston Villa is far from the only Premier League club interested in Bailey. Leicester City, Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Southampton have also put out feelers for the 23-year-old – Bailey is free to choose when looking for a club.
Good for Leverkusen: The more clubs show interest in the winger, the higher the transfer fee in the end. With an offer of over 35 million euros, the Werkself would give their star, who still has a contract until 2023, the approval.
