McLaren faces the Hungaroring as the third force in the paddock, and intends to stay there even before the mid-World Cup summer break. To do this, you need to safeguard it state of grace of Lando Norris and find continuity by Daniel Ricciardo, with the Australian who at Silverstone seemed to be growing significantly compared to previous outings. Perhaps thanks to the conformation of the British track, full of curves that hid that Achilles heel called braking. Even the Hungaroring, therefore, can meet the Honey Badger, but the Hungarian track is another that – on paper – is better suited to the Ferrari compared to the MCL35M, in the fight for third place among the manufacturers. These are the words of Norris and Ricciardo in presentation of the race on August 1st.
F1 Constructors’ World Championship after Great Britain GP 2021
Country Norris: “I can’t wait to go back to Hungary, a track for which I have fond memories given my official F1 debut in 2017. We have had a good start to the season so far, we will aim to finish the first half of the year on top. Hungaroring can be a difficult circuit for us, and we know that it will be a challenge to beat our closest rivals in the constructors’ championship. But we will give everything to continue building the gap and prepare for an excellent second half of the season“.
Manufacturers: Ferrari doubles compared to 2020
Daniel Ricciardo: “I can’t wait to go to Budapest, it’s one of my favorite tracks on the calendar, it’s a race I’ve won in the past. It is a very tight and technical circuit, with high levels of downforce required of the car, but this adds salt and excitement, we are talking about a real track for pilots. It is a circuit where overtaking can be difficult, so we will work hard to maximize our performance on Saturday; by doing so we should set the stage for a slightly easier Sunday. As always, we will continue to work hard to get as many points as possible for the constructors’ championship“.
