Savona – He’s dead the 66-year-old hiker crashed today (Monday 26 July) during a trip to the upper Gesso valley. The man, Michele Vallarino of Ceriale in the province of Savona, was proceeding uphill on the top of Fremamorta when he lost his balance just below the summit and fell from a spur of rock making a flight of 70 meters.
To give the alarm was the companion who had to go down a long way to be able to find the cell phone field. The technicians of the health emergency air ambulance intervened e the ground teams of the Alpine Rescue in support. The man was recovered and taken to hospital in Cuneo in very serious conditions. He died shortly after. The firefighters were also on site with the helicopter that accompanied the mountain rescue technicians and the hiker’s friend to the valley. This is the third victim in the Cuneo mountains since the beginning of July.
