Denis Zakaria has dominated the headlines at Borussia Mönchengladbach for a few weeks because of his open future. Now there is more news, because the Swiss must take a break for the time being. Teammate Alassane Plea is also out.
Together with most of the other EM riders, Zakaria should start preparing after the end of the Gladbach training camp. The Swiss was actually expected back this week – but his comeback will be postponed by a few days.
Borussia confirmed to the RPthat Zakaria had been in quarantine for a week because he had tested positive for the coronavirus. His entry into training should therefore be postponed until the coming week. But not only that: He will also miss the last two test matches against FC Bayern (July 28th) and Groningen (July 31st) – and thus go into the new season without match practice since the European Championship. As long as he is still there at all.
Because meanwhile there are new rumors of change around the 24-year-old, who, according to Max Eberl, wants to change his work in the summer. After he was last associated with a transfer to SSC Napoli, Arsenal FC’s interest has now apparently reignited.
There is also news from Lasso Plea, who injured his knee against FC Metz at the weekend. According to the club, the Frenchman, who like Zakaria is considered a potential sales candidate, suffered a capsule injury that will put him out of action “until further notice”.
This term is often associated with a break of several weeks, which in turn would mean Pleas absence at the start of the season.
