The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games are already underway and Google celebrated with a new Doodle that includes a game that pays tribute to sports disciplines and the RPGs of the SNES era. The game entertained many, but it also sparked new competition among the speedrunner community.
What happens is that members of the r / speedrun subreddit on reddit are already competing to see who is the fastest can complete different tests of the Google Doodle. So far most of the community has focused on being the best in the climbing game.
The record time for Doodle’s climbing mini game is 11 seconds. So far it has been achieved by 3 players ―ExaminationMassive95; stratpat1964 and dishadow99― who have already written their name down in history as some of the pioneers of Google Doodle speedrunning.
You can watch the video below where ExaminationMassie95 completes this Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Doodle test in just 11 seconds:
What does the future hold for Google Doodle speedrunners? Only time will tell. There are surely a lot of passionate players trying to get through this time. There are also those who are experimenting with other of their minigames to see if they have speedrunning potential. Hopefully it won’t take long for the first one to finish it 100% in record time.
