«We have exceeded 65 million doses administered, 65% of vaccinable people have had a first dose and 55% have completed the cycle. We must insist. I believe that the Italians are very clear that the vaccine is the essential weapon to put these difficult months behind us. Green pass and vaccines are two essential tools with which to close this difficult season trying to open another one and we are freer if we are vaccinated. My appeal to all Italians is to continue getting vaccinated ». This was stated by the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, interviewed on Tg1.
Speaking of the Delta variant, the minister reiterated that “it is very insidious and fast in spreading, for this reason today more than ever we must respect the correct behaviors we have learned in these difficult months: mask, distancing and above all insist on the vaccine that it is the most important weapon we have to defend ourselves and protect everyone else ». And on the infections Speranza stressed that the increase is recorded in all European countries “but – he said – also in the United States where there is a significant growth of infections. And this is caused by the Delta variant, a very insidious variant, very fast in spreading precisely for this reason today more than ever – continued the minister – we must respect the correct behaviors that we have learned in these difficult months: the use of the mask, distancing and above all insisting on the vaccine which is the most important weapon we have to defend ourselves and to protect everyone else ». Speranza then highlighted “a very strong acceleration in the last few days of bookings after the government announced the extension of the use of the Green pass. A tool that allows us to make the places of socialization safer, the places where we will meet the our friends our families “. Hence “my appeal – he concluded – to all Italians to continue getting vaccinated because the vaccine is really the most important weapon we have if we want to open a different season”.
On the subject of schools, he said, «we must work to create the conditions for a resumption of schools in the presence and in complete safety. I believe that these conditions may exist but once again the essential weapon is exactly that of vaccines ».
