“There are contacts with important names, I hope they go through.” On the sidelines of the presentation of the coach and general manager, the president of Pallacanestro Biella Antonio Trada unbalanced himself, returning to the optimism that had characterized him before the silences and meetings of the Board of Directors that had questioned the survival of the team. The topic was the possible new sponsors, which became topical after the declarations of the same number one, who said he was willing to give up the main space on the rossoblù tank top.
It is too early to understand if this is a realistic prospect, but in the meantime the daily contacts that his company holds could lead to new partnerships sprouting also for basketball: “It happened a few months ago when therchio Fassa Bortolo was among those on the uniform for the 2020 Italian Cup ». That competition was never held, but the special vests (green as a tribute to the main sponsor announced Bottega Verde) were used for the Super Cup last fall. Trada’s hope is that that road can be traveled with other brands and, in the meeting on Friday, dared a couple of names: «They are companies that have already had a past in top basketball and with which we have been in contact since Edilnol also sells furniture and not just building materials. For example Snaidero or Scavolini ».
For now it is little more than a wish, but certainly the very limited budget of Pallacanestro Biella needs injections of confidence and resources. If looking outside the province is a hypothesis, the commercial director Niccolò Bosio has already received the mandate from the entire board of directors to look around at 360 degrees: his reconfirmation has made him one of the “veterans” among the rossoblù desks. «He has just started his work – says Antonio Trada -. After all, very little time has passed from the end of last season to the beginning of this one. But we have good feelings: people care. After all, this club can only survive if we join forces ».
In the Biella basketball as well as in the Italian one, the figure of president (or at least top manager) and sponsor often coincide: this is the case of the newly promoted in Naples and Tortona.
