When Carlo Ancelotti decided to resign from the Everton coaching chair and join Real Madrid, the name of Steven Gerrard, who had just helped Glasgow Rangers win the domestic league, was included in the candidate for successor to the Italian coach.
However, the process of moving Gerrard to Everton never happened. Because, The Toffees have in fact decided to appoint a coach from Spain, Rafael Benitez who is plotted as Ancelotti’s successor.
Responding to the problem that had been linked to Everton, Gerrard also admitted he was surprised by the rumors. Because Gerrard, who is a Liverpool legend, insists that he will not return to the Premier League just to coach his rival club.
“I was very surprised, when I saw my name was linked to serve as coach there. I don’t know, where it came from or if there is truth in it, I’m not sure,” said ESPN’s Gerrard.
“(Sitting in the Everton coaching chair) will never come true for me,” he concluded.
Currently, Gerrard is still under contract until 2024 with The Gers and most likely, he is actually being plotted to become Jurgen Klopp’s successor as the future coach of the Reds.
