“It seemed fair to say that the only hope now is to start over, get involved in another adventure, transform difficulties into new possibilities, return to the past what is of the past and give the present the strength and courage of future”
From 16 July it is available in radio rotation “What a pity”, Second single by Matteo Maione present on all streaming platforms from 9 July. Too often we happen to be unable to “hear”, to waste our time without listening or understanding the essence of everything; therefore we remain silent as fish, regretting within ourselves what we could have done, unable to give meaning to our present but also to the memory of what has been. We scream, but in the end no one listens to us: this is the beating heart of “What a sin”, the new single by Matteo Maione.
Matteo Maione kindly granted us an interview.
“What a pity” is your new song, what is it about?
It is a passage in which I speak of the difficulties we often encounter when we try to realize our deepest desires but, at the same time, also of the desire to overcome that fear, anger and helplessness that are often themselves the cause of this “eternal” disappointment. Too often in the frenzy of our lives we find ourselves not having or devoting time to the things that truly interest us, that make us feel good or even uplift us spiritually. Instead, it would take so little to find those moments in which we can truly reflect on what is happening in our existence, whether it is good or bad; and then listening to the rustle of the wind, the hypnotic and ancestral sound of the sea, the power of distant thunder, could help us to better tune into a world that is always within our reach.
What do you want to convey with this work?
Always continue to seek out and within us a strength and a courage that will allow us to face the mystery of life, through our spiritual, artistic and human abilities. The apple referred to in the song is therefore not only the symbol of original sin and the loss of our innocence, but also the emblem to finally regain that primordial purity and that peace of the senses that is hidden within each of us.
What kind of welcome do you expect?
I expect those who listen to the song to feel shaken in their certainties but at the same time stimulated to start over, to get involved for another adventure, to transform old difficulties into new possibilities, returning to the past what is of the past. and giving the present the strength and courage of the future.
How did you approach the world of music?
Music has accompanied me throughout my life, since I was a child, when, playing the piano, I realized that I could express the deepest and most hidden feelings and moods. Later there was the love for cinema and the desire to create melodies that could be a harmonious union with images. Then a few years ago I felt the need to tell the experiences of a lifetime, transforming existence itself into a great soundtrack, in which music was the heart and words the lucid tale of a timeless present. At the same time I believe that we must always take risks for the things that really interest us, otherwise the real risk is to lose them.
