Lucien Favre cancels his next coaching job. The former BVB coach is not interested in a commitment in Bordeaux. Instead, his advisor stressed that he still needed time.
After leaving Borussia Dortmund in mid-December 2020, Lucien Favre was already associated with many clubs. Fenerbahce was considered interested, most recently there was said to have been an oral agreement with Premier League club Crystal Place before rumors of an involvement with Girondins Bordeaux emerged in the last few days.
But nothing will come of it. Favre will not take over a club for the new season. The advisor to the 63-year-old Swiss, Christophe Paillot, told the The team: “He won’t go to Bordeaux, he won’t take over a club this summer. He still needs time.”
While the Portuguese Vítor Pereira has taken over at Fenerbahce and Patrick Vieira will be on the sidelines at Crystal Palace in the future, the search in Bordeaux must continue. In addition to Favre, three other coach candidates are on the list. The favorite is said to be the Swiss national coach Vladimir Petkovic. Mourinho assistant Joao Sacramento is also expected to have good chances.
Favre, on the other hand, wants to continue to wait for the right offer and seems to have continued to nibble on his exemption from BVB. With black and yellow he managed a strong point average of 2.01 points per game in 110 games – but the titles were always awarded under Favre without Dortmund’s Borussia. It will only be a matter of time that we will see the Swiss coach again soon.
