Liverpool FC reportedly have a keen interest in the transfer of Jarrod Bowen from West Ham United. However, the 24-year-old will not be cheap, so you wait for your own departures first.
Liverpool FC has been relatively cautious this summer. “Only” 40 million euros, which were transferred to Leipzig for Ibrahima Konaté, are on the expenditure side.
But after losing Georginio Wijnaldum for free and only taking in just over seven million euros through the sales of Marko Grujic (FC Porto) and Taiwo Awoniyi (Union Berlin), further high transfer fees simply seem not to be payable – right?
Because according to English reports, Jürgen Klopp’s team should work hard to find an expensive offensive all-rounder.
So will The Athletic have learned that Liverpool are said to have struck gold while looking for another versatile attacker in West Ham. The 24-year-old Englishman Jarrod Bowen is said to be the object of desire.
Bowen only moved from Hull City to the Hammers in January 2020, the transfer fee was probably just under 30 million euros – including various bonus payments.
In West Ham, the left-footer is still under contract until 2025, its current market value is estimated at just those 30 million euros (source: transfermarkt.de).
Bowen would face a lot of competition in Liverpool. Players like Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mané or Diogo Jota would probably be in front of him.
It is conceivable that Klopp will slowly establish the talented Bowen as the successor to Salah or Sané, both of whom are rapidly approaching 30. However, something would have to emerge beforehand on the exit side in order to be able to justify the transfer – both economically and in terms of the squad density.
For Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi they are currently trying to sell two players. However, the success here has so far been limited. Klopp himself is convinced of Bowen and would monitor his further development if a transfer does not take place this summer, it continues.
