TEL AVIV, 12 JUL – In light of the renewed spread of Covid in recent weeks in Israel, the Israeli Ministry of Health today instructed the health insurance funds to administer a third dose of Pfizer vaccine to immunosuppressed people. The aim is to prevent them from becoming infected and developing severe forms of the disease. A statement from the Ministry of Health specifies that the measure concerns those who have had heart, lung, liver, bone marrow or kidney transplants. The third dose can also be administered to those who have been or are still undergoing various types of oncological treatments. The optimal period for vaccination with the third dose – according to the ministry – is eight weeks after the second. In any case, he warns, no less than four weeks should elapse between the second and third dose. Immunosuppressed, warns the ministry of health, must however continue to maintain the utmost caution. Among other things, they are encouraged to wear protective masks, to observe personal hygiene and to refrain from contact with sick or unvaccinated people. (HANDLE).
