Sonora. – Before the Cananea mining strike who is about to turn 14, and in any labor dispute, the president Andrés Manuel López Obrador He guaranteed that his government will listen to all parties involved, but clarified that whoever has it will be right and the balance will not be tipped for anyone.
In the presentation of the Comprehensive Care Plan for Cananea Y Wellness Programs, the head of the federal Executive assured that, in past six-year terms, the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS) leaned on one side and where workers were not taken into account.
“It was just a group that dominated, that’s how it was before, until recently. Now the Secretary of Labor He has to attend to both parties and act with justice, and agree with those who have it and not tip the balance for anyone, but guarantee that there is justice.
“That is the change we offer for Cananea,” he said at the facilities of the Cananea Higher Technological Institute, which drew applause from the members of section 65 of the National Union of Mining, Metallurgical, Steel and Similar Workers of the Republic Mexicana (SNTMMSSRM), led by Senator Napoleón Gómez Urrutia, who were invited.
“The agreement is a utopia, but it will be tried”
Accompanied by Governor Claudia Pavlovich and by Alfonso Durazo, governor-elect of Sonora, as well as by members of his cabinet, President López Obrador highlighted the presence of Luisa María Alcalde, head of the STPS, who indicated that he already has the Comprehensive Plan ready of Attention to Cananea, and in which, he pointed out, the first thing is to address labor disputes through dialogue and agreement, in reference to the mining strike.
He stated that reaching an agreement “is a utopia,” since he acknowledged that both parties have been in conflict, but indicated that an attempt will be made.
“And that we offer, to help in the differences that the parties have to reach an agreement between all of the dialogue. It is like a utopia, because they have been confronted for a long time, but we are going to try. We are going to seek a general agreement on labor matters, ”he said.
For this reason, President López Obrador pointed out that Olga Sánchez Cordero, Secretary of the Interior (Segob) was invited to the event to “help us in all pending lawsuits, that it be reviewed and that the reason be given to whoever have ”.
