The Trek-Segafredo cyclists have won the opening time trial of the Giro d’Italia Donne, the Tour of Italy. The team of the Italian leader Elisa Longo Borghini with Lucinda Brand and Ellen van Dijk was the best in the team time trial over 26.7 kilometers from Fossano to Cuneo. The first pink jersey is for American Ruth Winder.
Trek-Segafredo came to a time of 33.40.82. The cyclists thus stayed ahead of SD Worx of world champion Anna van de Breggen, among others, by 7.88 seconds. The third fastest time was set by the cyclists of Alé BTC Ljubljana. They were over 39 seconds slower. Jumbo-Visma of Marianne Vos had to concede 1.15 minutes and finished sixth.
