World 400m champion Salwa Eid Naser will not participate in the Tokyo Olympics this summer. Sports tribunal CAS has suspended the athlete for two years for violation of the doping regulations. Supervisor Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) had referred the Bahraini’s case to CAS.
However, her results from the 2019 World Cup will not be deleted. According to the CAS, there is no evidence that she took advantage of banned substances in that match.
Naser was recently acquitted by a tribunal of the World Athletics Federation. As a result, she initially avoided a two-year suspension for missing a number of doping controls. However, the AIU disagreed with that ruling and decided to appeal to the CAS.
