Unable to get a place at Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid, Martin Odegaard finally decided to leave for Arsenal in the 2021 winter transfer window on loan.
Playing six months at the Emirates Stadium, Odegaard also managed to show an impressive performance, after he was able to get regular playing minutes by Mikel Arteta which made the Gunners want to make him permanent.
However, Arsenal’s efforts to do so did find it difficult because the London Cannon did not have a permanent option for the Norwegian. Besides, their hopes had indeed been dashed.
Because, Odegaard has confirmed that he will return to strengthen Los Blancos by confirming that he is ready to fight through the regular squad under the care of the new coach, Carlo Ancelotti.
“Real Madrid, have stated if they want me back. So, now is the time to go there when training starts again,” said Odegaard quoted by Mirror Football.
“Of course, it’s always a dream to play at Madrid. I’ve been there for six years and that’s always been the goal.”
Ancelotti, who had just been appointed as Zidane’s replacement, reportedly gave Odegaard fresh air because he was willing to give regular playing minutes throughout the upcoming 2021/22 season.
