Before the tribute that the Senate of the Republic will surrender this Monday to the poet Ramon lopez velarde, one hundred years after his death, his name will be reflected in gold letters on the Wall of Honor of the Upper House, making him the first illustrious person to appear in said space of the legislature.
The president of the Senate Political Coordination Board, Ricardo Monreal Avila, informed that the plaque that will be unveiled in a solemn ceremony, will bear the legend: “Ramón López Velarde, poet of the Homeland.”

The leader of the Senators from Morena affirmed that it is a tribute to the Zacatecan writer who “transcended any stage, any time,” in which an anthology of his work will be presented, edited by the Senate, one hundred years after his death. .
“We are reviewing the preparations for tomorrow, that we have a solemn session to commemorate the death of a great universal poet, a Jerez-born, Ramón López Velarde, who left his mark on the lyrics and poetry,” said Monreal Ávila, who thanked all the parliamentary groups that approved the point of agreement “to make possible the inscription of his name in the parliamentary enclosure”.
