MILAN – From Friday 14 May the single by Jonathan Cilia Faro and Marc Martel “Too much love will kill you”, a historic success written by Brian May, Frank Musker and Elizabeth Lamers with the part of the text in Italian written by Zucchero Sugar Fornaciari.
Jonathan Cilia Faro says: “In 2003 I had the opportunity to attend the tenth and unfortunately last edition of“ Pavarotti and Friends ”in Modena and to be bewitched by Brian May’s performance with Luciano Pavarotti. Inside I felt a strong but healthy jealousy because as an artist I dreamed of going up on a stage like this, but it was not yet the time. I remember my dream: one day I’ll do it again. 18 years have passed. I never heard this song again until my fate took me to Nashville, Tennessee, where by a series of coincidences I met Marc Martel. For me there are no voices comparable to hers, not to mention the artistic charisma that she brings with her. We worked with the best musicians, Vinnie Colaiuta and Nathan East and everything was masterfully coordinated by an incredible producer like Vincenzo Fontes, giving us the chance to sing to a crazy arrangement ”.
Marc Martel comments: “I met Jonathan last December at his home in Nashville, I was immediately invested by his Italian energy and after sharing our experiences and stages in life, I listened to Jonathan’s project and I could only embrace it. with all my might. “Too Much Love will kill you” is a song that very often during my tour with Queen, but since my secret love is the opera I could not resist the opportunity to work with Jonathan in this project that will bring back to life two giants of world music like Pavarotti and Mercury. I sang with great artists but never with one of Jonathan’s caliber and I’m happy because “Too Much Love Will Kill You” is a song that will involve anyone who listens to it ”.
“In this dark and sad period – says the producer and arranger Vincenzo Fontes – Jonathan’s phone call was for me, like the first dose of vaccine. He told me that he wanted to do “To much love will kill you”, that he wanted me as an artistic producer and arranger, reminding me that the song had been sung by Pavarotti and Brian May. By chance he had met Marc Martel and they had become friends, and he told me he wanted to do the duet with him adding, I thought of as rhythm Vinnie Colaiuta and Nathan East. I what!?! They are two sacred monsters of international music and Marc in addition to having a beautiful voice is considered by all to be the reincarnation of Freddie. It was a succession of video calls, I sent the material via the web, we did a night session remotely given the time zone to show the progress of the song. Thanks to the internet, the distances between Sicily and Nashville have been canceled ”.
The video tells and documents the various days spent together by the two artists in Studio11 in Nashville, Jonathan’s residential studio, showing their friendship and joy in creating music with images. This is the first in a series of tributes and tributes to artists such as Freddie Mercury, Montserrat Caballé, Luciano Pavarotti, Édith Piaf and Zucchero Fornaciari for their legacy and cultural impact in the world, through the unique voices of Jonathan Cilia Faro and Marc Martel.
