The secretary general of the United Nations (HIM-HER-IT), António Guterres, demanded this Sunday that Israelis and Palestinians immediately stop the fighting and return to the negotiating table to achieve a sustainable solution to the Middle East conflict.
“The fighting must end. It must stop immediately. The rockets and mortars on the one hand and the aerial and artillery bombardments on the other must stop,” Guterres said at the opening of an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council.

The head of the organization warned that the fighting could drag “Israelis and Palestinians into a spiral of violence with devastating consequences for the two communities and for the entire region.”
