Clemente Castañeda Hoeflich, national coordinator of Citizen Movement (MC), reported that his party presented to the Organization of American States (OAS) a complaint about facts and constitutional violations in which Andrés Manuel López Obrador has incurred during the electoral process.
The MC coordinator explained that the actions and expressions of the President of the Republic have violated Article 3 of the Inter-American Democratic Charter. Which, he pointed out, does not allow the proper exercise of the electoral process and a contest for access to power under conditions of equality between all political forces, at this point, the opposition parties to the Federal Government are especially affected.
In addition, he recalled that the Inter-American Court of Human Rights has indicated that the democratic principle is inherent in the Inter-American Human Rights System itself and the Convention must be interpreted hand in hand with the Democratic Charter, therefore, the effective participation of opposition political parties must be guaranteed by the States, through appropriate regulations and practices that enable their real and effective access to the different deliberative spaces on equal terms.

“The Federal Government, such as the Attorney General’s Office and the Special Prosecutor for Electoral Crimes, is making a factional use of institutions to influence the elections and persecute opposition leaders, as well as electoral authorities.” Castañeda pointed out.
He also recalled that the President and federal officials have systematically attacked the autonomy of electoral entities, “there is contempt against these electoral institutions, the President has not complied with the invitation of the electoral authorities not to promote federal programs during the electoral period. However, his insistence on talking about electoral fraud goes in the sense that he assumes himself as the great guardian of the elections ”.

Due to the facts presented in the complaint, Castañeda Hoeflich formally requested the Foreign Visitors Mission to issue a statement on the conduct that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has been carrying out, regarding the elections and opposition candidates, which are contrary to the principle of neutrality and the aforementioned national and international legal framework.
The complaint was presented to the Exc. Amb. Santiago Canton, Chief of the OAS Foreign Visitors Mission in Mexico; Prof. Brenda Santamaría, Chief, Electoral Observation Section of the Department for Electoral Cooperation and Observation of the OAS and Mtra. Yerutí Méndez, Deputy Head of the OAS Foreign Visitors Mission in Mexico.
