Having experienced a shortage of defender stocks proved to be overwhelming for Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp and his squad don’t want to experience this again next season, no doubt he wants to have several options at the back next season.
As is well known, the Reds have lost several key players in defense this season. This affected their performance, especially in the second half of the Premier League season. Slowly but surely they brought in some new names to fill the existing shortcomings.
Specific for the center-back position, means that currently Liverpool have quite a lot of players in stock: Ozan Kabak, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomes, Joel Matip, Ben Davies, Nat Phillips, Rhys Williams and Sepp van den Berg.
“Our new season will start in the summer. The players will be ready. We’re going to need a few players at center-back, doing a few different things. Gradually we will welcome other players as well, “Klopp said as quoted by Goal.
“The selection of players for the first team is definitely based on performance in training and matches. The door will always be open to any player. I will not close my eyes to players who appear impressive, “he concluded.
