This Friday the first mixology reality show in Mexico: The Ultimate Mixologist. A production by Eduardo Valenzuela and Carlos Cuellar for Amazon Prime Video.
“We are very happy with this launch, we have been working for more than a year, almost two, since we had the idea. I was fortunate to have a great partner for this project, Carlos Cuéllar, and also a spectacular jury: Diego Alfaro, Paco Ayala and the chef Gabriela Chamber”, Talks Eduardo Valenzuela, one of the producers of the project.
The Ultimate Mixologist It will have 6 chapters, 8 participating mixologists and special guests, among experts and personalities such as Luis Gerardo Mendez and El Diablito.
“I’m happy to finally be able to release this. I was coming from doing a series called Distilling Mexico, with Miguel Rodarte when a mutual friend introduced me to Carlos and we began to talk and devise the program.
“Mexico has great mixologists, bars and an incredible raw material that is recognized all over the world,” explains Carlos.
The series was filmed in record time (2 chapters per day) and features the participation of some of the most important bartenders in Mexico: Annie Rose, Ricardo Sandoval, Carlos “Diablito” Esparza, Karla Fiesco, Danny Téllez, Sheila Zenteno, Luis Franklin and Alex Garrido, although only one will be crowned the best mixologist in the country.
“We wanted them to be people of a super level to compete at a professional level but also to be cool to go out into the box, talk and have fun. In the end we succeeded, you will see that the casting we did was quite good, we all had fun ”, says Eduardo.
“Working with Gaby (Camera) was a great surprise, in addition to the culinary part, she has great expertise in cocktails, so all her contributions and comments were very good,” says Diego Alfaro about the good vibes that were experienced on set as well as the learning acquired by having expert guests such as Lala Noguera, connoisseur of distillates; Pablo Iceman, ice expert; or Arturo Rojas, the only cocktail chef in Mexico.
“I saw many things in practice that I already knew but perhaps no longer remembered. It was very fun to observe people working closely,” says the chef. Gabriela Chamber.
“We were surprised by the quality of characters that all of them are. With each one we learned something, they all contribute a lot and we get to know the unknown side of the bar, preparation techniques, etc. Something that is also impressive is the level of camaraderie, there was always support and professionalism, ”added Carlos.
Eduardo and Carlos, talk that Prime Video bought the rights to the series worldwide so that the series can be seen anywhere in the world. “This is our first season and we are very excited. It is the first time that Amazon has bought the rights from us worldwide, so for the first time it is going to be released worldwide, it is a great achievement. We are very proud to export this talent ”, they express.
Cocktails to enjoy while you watch The Ultimate Moxologist
1 oz Campari
1 oz of Cinzano Rosso
1 oz de Bulldog Gin
1. Pour all the ingredients directly into an old fashioned glass filled with ice. Mix gently and decorate with an orange crescent.
2 oz. Prosecco
2 oz. Aperol
Half an orange slice
1. Put ice in the glass, serve the wine and then the Aperol in equal parts. Add a splash of mineral water and decorate with a half slice of orange.
