Culiacán.- Juan Francisco “N” “El Quillo”, alleged perpetrator of the murder of co-founder of the RioDoce Weekly, Javier Valdez Cárdenas, appeared with his lawyers before a control judge, in the first hearing of the oral trial that follows.
In the new hearing held privately, his legal advisers again requested to postpone the continuation of the trial until next November, for requiring more time to accumulate defense evidence in favor of his client, which was denied.
At the conclusion of the first hearing of the oral trial that follows this, the date for its continuation was set next Thursday, May 6.

During the hearing that took place in February, “El Quillo” refused to accept the abbreviated procedure, in which he would receive a higher sentence, of 20 years and eight months, for having been identified as the material author of the Valdez murder. Cárdenas and serve as the head of the criminal group that committed it.
According to the investigations that charged him, on May 15, 2017, Juan Francisco “N”, in the company of Heriberto “N” “El Koala” and Luis Alfonso “El Diablo”, on Rivapalacio Street, in Culiacán, intercepted the co-founder of the RioDoce Weekly.
Javier Valdez was forced to get out of his vehicle and was shot several times before fleeing. Months later it was identified that the body, found calcined in the state of Sonora, corresponded to “El Diablo.”
