Also this year the “Team of the Season” of the Bundesliga will be elected. We introduce you to the players available for selection in the respective team areas.
While some candidates like Robert Lewandowski, Erling Haaland or Angelino will certainly be among the favorites, outsiders have also made it into the inner circle of EA’s Fifa 21. You can vote here.
In the gate you have five candidates to choose from. In addition to Manuel Neuer from FC Bayern, Peter Gulacsi from RB Leipzig and Koen Casteels from VfL Wolfsburg, two goalkeepers from clubs in the lower table region have apparently deserved to be chosen.
Because Rafal Gikiewicz from FC Augsburg and Stefan Ortega from Arminia Bielefeld complete the circle of keepers. Both certainly only have outsider chances if you look at the competition.
Neuer is likely to secure the championship title, while Gulacsi led his team into the Champions League. Casteels, on the other hand, is still fighting for the premier class, Ortega and Gikiewicz are deep in the relegation battle.
The candidates for the gate:
Here you have ten nominees to choose from, but all positions in the back four are covered. Borussia Dortmund, 1. FC Union Berlin and VfL Wolfsburg each provide two players.
Merging the positions has its price, as there are seven full-backs against only three central defenders. It will be exciting to see whether the achievements of Christian Günter, Borna Sosa or Ridle Baku were also noticed by the general public.
The candidates for defense:
For the heart of the team you have a whopping 15 players to choose from – for only three free places. In addition to the usual suspects like Jadon Sancho, who is actually more of a striker, or Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka, players from many other clubs also appear.
FC Bayern has three players, two each from Leipzig and two from Eintracht Frankfurt. In total, the 15 nominees come from a whopping eleven different clubs. With Matheus Cunha from Hertha and Lars Stindl from Borussia Mönchengladbach, the only professionals from their respective teams are represented here.
The candidates for the midfield:
While you are spoiled for choice in midfield, you are offered “only” ten players for the three positions in attack. With Lewandowski, Haaland and Silva, the positions seem already taken, but who knows.
Because with Wout Weghorst, Sasa Kalajdzic or Max Kruse, several outsiders are lurking for the chance. Only FC Bayern and VfB Stuttgart have two players each.
