A electric car platform premium capable of guaranteeing a range of up to 1,000 km. Italdesign follows the trend of the automotive sector and continues its metamorphosis and evolution by presenting EVX, an architecture for full electric cars developed in partnership with Williams Advanced Engineering, a company connected to the well-known Formula 1 team.

The platform developed by Italdesign and WAE is highly flexible and it can be used by car manufacturers for their own development or to adapt to the components made by the two companies. The pivotal point is the battery which in this case takes on an instrumental position, placing itself at the center of the frame inside a carbon and composite shell. On its sides, two aluminum elements complete the structure. In this way it is the frame that is load-bearing and not the body, with higher rigidity and an excellent ability to absorb any trauma thanks to the lateral reinforcements. The sash frame can accommodate batteries ranging in size from 104 kWh to 160 kWh, which could offer a range of up to 1,000 km, with maximum power up to 1,000 kW, all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive, with one or two motors.

The EVX is designed to support large SUVs, sedans and coupes and GT-style convertibles with a wheelbase between 2900mm and 3100mm. A great versatility that would also greatly shorten the time needed to build a car, with Williams e Italdesign that promise to be able to bring a new car to market in at most 30-36 months, shortening the usual development times by one year. However, the two companies speak of medium-low production volumes, no more than 10,000 units per year, with 500 of these that could be made directly by Italdesign. The battery would instead be supplied by Williams, who in the past was the sole manufacturer for Formula E and which will return to be so starting from the next two years. The cost of the platform should be around 100,000 euros.
