Software Republic is the great project of which Renault is also part, inspired by the sharing of technology horizontally, to bring the companies involved to create products and services for mobility that are fully integrated and usable by European citizens. It is a republic because there is no pyramid structure, as each company will field its know-how according to the type of project; and it is software, as well as dedicated hardware, because the key word of the future of mobility is ‘digital’. Codes, artificial intelligence, security and privacy will have to enter into this discourse in a concrete way.
According to François Dossa, member of the management of the Renault group and following the innovation and development projects opened by the French brand, “Software République is a response to the profound changes in mobility of the third millennium, with the aim of creating a new sector of software development. The founding members, Atos, Dassault Systèmes, Groupe Renault, STMicroelectronics and Thales, will provide their specific knowledge, and this combination will lead to an acceleration of solutions. All this will materialize in the second quarter of 2021 with the launch of the first collaborations“. Therefore to see the first project at work is a matter of little.
Current, the car sharing of Tper and Renault is renewed
Among the first concrete examples of the mobility solutions already discussed by the working group is the system ‘Plug&Charge‘, or a simplification of the charging process of electric cars thanks to automatic vehicle recognition. In this way, the supply of electricity could take place without the use of physical ‘cards’ for payment. Software République is studying other ideas in parallel, such as that of a traffic simulation to analyze the flow of travel, reduce traffic jams and lower CO2 through shorter travel times.
