The processes against Emilio Lozoya, former director of Mexican oil (Pemex), by Odebrecht Y Agro Nitrogenized, were extended until mid-July.
Control judges Artemio Zúñiga Mendoza and Eduardo Vázquez Rea, from the Federal Criminal Justice Center in the North Prison, granted two 90-day extensions requested by Miguel Ontiveros and Alejandro Rojas Pruneda, Lozoya’s lawyers, to carry out the complementary investigation.
The resolutions were issued in hearings on April 15 and 21, arguing that the defense requires more time to complete negotiations with foreign institutions whose procedures have been delayed by the pandemic of the Covid-19.

During the hearings, the lawyers indicated that Lozoya has provided more evidence to the General Prosecutor of the Republic (FGR) in the complaint filed against officials and former officials for alleged acts of corruption.
This complaint was presented last August by Lozoya to obtain a criterion of opportunity that he also requested for his wife Marielle Helene Eckes; his sister, Gilda Susana Lozoya, both fugitives from justice and their mother, Gilda Margarita Austin.
The latter currently linked to the process by money laundering and criminal association, same that continues in domiciliary rooting.

If by next July the defense requests an extension again and it is not granted by the judges, the FGR will have to present its accusations formally to appear for an intermediate hearing.
Among those denounced by Lozoya is the former PAN senator, Jorge Luis Lavalle Maury, linked to proceedings and subject to justified preventive detention for money laundering, bribery and criminal association in this case.
Lozoya affirmed that the former legislator received bribes during the past administration to approve the energetic reform.
According to the current norm, to obtain the criterion of opportunity, the former director of Pemex has to testify before a judge against the one or those implicated in the crimes he denounces, so in the Lavalle process, Lozoya is expected to appear to give their testimony.
