Monterrey.- Pedro Casas Quiñones, mayor of the municipality of Ciénega de Flores, and seven other people, apparently municipal officials, were detained by agents of the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Electoral Crimes with the support of the Civil Force, because, during working hours, they apparently held an electoral strategy and planning meeting in favor of Margarita Quiroga, PAN candidate to the mayor of the aforementioned municipality and wife of the mayor.
In addition to the probable electoral crimes, the detainees could face accusations of illegal deprivation of liberty since, inside the fifth Tierra Blanca, property of the mayor, he was rescued by ministerial agents, Erick Flores who, according to witnesses, they had detained and subjected the mayor and his companions.
Erick Flores is part of the campaign team of Miguel Ángel Quiroga Treviño, candidate of the “Juntos Haremos Historia” coalition formed by Morena, PVEM, PT and Nueva Alianza, opponent of the PAN candidate, Margarita Quiroga, who seeks to relieve her husband , who came to power in 2015 under the leadership of the PRD, and in 2017 declared himself independent to be re-elected in that way in 2018.
In this regard, Gilberto Pablo de Hoyos Koloffon, head of the Nuevo León’s Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in Electoral Crimes, said that this day the detachment of ministerial agents of the FEDE, carried out an investigation in Cienega de Flores, when they received a call from citizens who alerted about a meeting on private property, which could be constitutive of electoral crimes.
The ministerials appeared at the indicated address, and were approached by people who were outside, who asked them to rescue a person who, they said, was being deprived of liberty and was beaten by those who were inside.
Since the agents were able to observe from the outside that a person had been beaten and that his integrity was at risk, they requested support from the Civil Force and proceeded to enter the property to attend to the victim and proceeded to arrest eight people, apparently municipal public servants, including Mayor Pedro Casas Quiñones, who would be meeting in an act of electoral proselytizing during working hours.

Likewise, support was requested from the Anti-Kidnapping Prosecutor’s Office of the State Attorney General’s Office, to carry out the corresponding investigation regarding the probable illegal deprivation of liberty to the detriment of the team member of the member of the Juntos coalition We will make history.
During the afternoon and evening, the eight detainees were in the premises of the Anti-kidnapping Prosecutor’s Office, where statements were also taken from the witnesses to the events, as well as from the victim, once he was reviewed and treated for the injuries he presented.
Gilberto Pablo de Hoyos stated that these actions could be considered high impact, but they are necessary to combat crime and electoral criminals. “We are working with a team of 40 ministerial agents specialized in these issues, to respond to the calls of citizens against electoral crime.”
“What we are seeing is that there are still many public officials who are used to doing whatever they want, without caring about trampling on the rule of law, but it is part of the attributions of the law enforcement institutions, prosecuting electoral crimes, and with actions as these is how these crimes should be fought and give an example that there are consequences ”.
With this, he stressed, “we hope that public officials and political actors think twice before committing this type of crime. He stressed that these are deterrence, inhibition and prevention actions, in accordance with the law, which already considers serious crimes of an electoral nature.
