UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin quipped the two figures who played a part in the making of the European Super League, Ed Woodward (CEO of Manchester United) and Andrea Agnelli (President of Juventus).
According to Ceferin, both of them are like snakes with the lies they tell. Both previously fully supported the change in the format of the Champions League, but afterwards it was known to have played a role in making the European Super League.
“Look, for me, I have seen many things in my life. I have been a criminal lawyer for 24 years so I have seen different people, but I have never seen such a person,” explained Ceferin as quoted by Goal.
“If I start with Ed Woodward, because it will be shorter, I don’t have much contact with him but he called me last Thursday night.”
“He said he was very satisfied with reforms, that he fully supported reforms and the only thing he wanted to talk about was the Financial Fair Play. Obviously, he had thought of something else.”
“I don’t want to talk much about Andrea Agnelli. He is probably one of the biggest disappointments or the biggest of all. I don’t want to get too personal but the fact is I’ve never seen anyone who would lie more and more times than he does. . How hard to believe. “
“I spoke to him on Saturday afternoon and he said this was just a rumor, don’t worry, nothing happened, then he said I’ll call you in an hour and turn off the phone. The next day, we got the announcement.”
“As I said, I have seen many things in my life but never like this. Obviously, greed is so strong that all human value is lost.”
“Everything is lost with some people. We are different and we will still be different. You know, it’s always good to learn who in life is who.”
“The whole world knows now that they unanimously supported our reforms on Friday, when they clearly signed an agreement (with the Super League).”
“Everyone there: Woodward, Agnelli, (Ivan) Gazidis and Pedro Lopes from Real Madrid. I don’t need to explain further what I think of them.”
“We may be naive in not knowing that we have a snake near us. Now we know. There will be legal action soon,” Ceferin explained.
