VERCELLI, 08 APR – Aggravated fraud against the State, forgery, military embezzlement and abuse of office. These are the accusations made against Colonel Fabrizio Nicoletti, provincial commander of the Guardia di Finanza of Vercelli, under house arrest this morning. The measure was carried out by the economic and financial police unit of the Fiamme Gialle of Turin, coordinated by the Prosecutor of Vercelli. Same precautionary measure also for Nicoletti’s driver, Brigadier Maurizio La Sala. According to the prosecution, the two would have indicated in the service records activities never carried out, obtaining payments from the ministry for sums that would not have been due to them. According to the magistrates, the high officer of the financial police and his closest collaborator, while drawing up the service records, falsely indicated hours and places of work for activities that in reality would never have been carried out, as well as having provided services in times and places that would not actually have been rendered. By falsely certifying their presence in service, the two arrested would have misled the Mef into paying, at a contributory level, sums of money that would not have been due to them. The prosecutor also ascertained the use of the institutional car used by the provincial commander for private discoveries, as well as the undue entrustment to the driver of tasks that were not part of the service duties. In addition to the two leaders, three other soldiers are registered in the register of suspects, for various reasons, all recipients of warranties. This morning several searches were carried out in the offices of the command aimed at acquiring documents. Nicoletti, 58, has been in charge of the yellow flames of Vercelli since August 2019.
