MILAN – For several months Mohamed Simakan, a young French central defender, was courted by Milan. His move to the shadow of the Duomo now seemed one step away last October: in the end, however, the deal fell through due to the lack of agreement with Strasbourg. Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara returned to the office at the beginning of 2021, but the negotiations ran aground again, due to the injury suffered by the class 2000 to a knee, which prompted the Rossoneri management to turn to Fikayo Tomori, acquired at the end of January on loan with redemption option. A graft that, up to now, has not disappointed expectations at all. The Englishman immediately integrated himself very well into the Rossoneri reality and is churning out excellent performances. Not surprisingly, Milan are already thinking of redeeming him at the end of this season.
Simakan, for his part, will still leave Strasbourg in the summer, to start a new adventure in Leipzig, with whom he has signed a five-year contract and in which he will play starting next season. Through the official channels of the German company, Simakan himself spoke about his decision: “I am convinced that this is the best choice for the continuation of my career. I am really very happy. In Leipzig I will have the opportunity to grow in the best possible way, playing in a great league. I’m looking forward to playing in the Bundesliga, getting to know the city, my new teammates and, of course, the fans. I spoke to several Leipzig players while I was still deciding what to do for my future. Everyone told me extremely positive things about the club, the environment and the ambitions. I hope to integrate as quickly as possible. I want to give my contribution and do my part to help my new team achieve great goals ”.
