Aramu’s first double of the season launches Zanetti’s team to -1 from leaders Empoli. The Libutti advantage was useless for the guests
The great Serie B are warned: among the main competitors for direct promotion, this year, there is also Venice. Paolo Zanetti’s team beats Reggiana 2-1, in a comeback, and goes to second place alone for one night in the standings at 45. Aramu’s double to overturn the goal scored by Libutti was decisive. Now Empoli, first and back from five draws in a row (the last one against Venice), is only one point away. It had already been understood in recent weeks, but now it seems clearer than ever: the Venetians are a quality team, square, well built and that can legitimately aspire to Serie A. A team that always knows what to do with the ball between the feet and who has the merit of not losing heart once at a disadvantage: it had already happened nine days ago against Entella, from 0-2 to 3-2 in a few minutes.
And it happened again today, after the Emilians ‘goal arrived in the 20’. A well-deserved victory, because after that goal the Venetians resumed playing as they know, raising the pace and finding not only the two goals (the second of which was very lucky), but also two crosses in six minutes. For Zanetti’s team this is the eighth consecutive useful result and the fourth consecutive victory at home, the sixth in the last eight games. For Reggiana, who remains at 28 to +2 on the playout area, the demerit of not having been able to keep the advantage: it should be emphasized, however, that Alvini’s team has raised the pressure a lot in the last minutes, wasting two excellent opportunities to arrive likewise in full recovery. It was not enough, and now the Emilians will have to look over their shoulders with a little more concern.
