Last week we talked about additive gasoline. And reader Matilde was in doubt about which cars should use premium gasoline.
Premium gasoline is high octane, which means that it resists compression more before igniting.
It is suitable for cars with more power, with a higher compression ratio. Sports cars or prepared for competition have this characteristic and can burn high octane gas well.
For ordinary cars, even if imported, gasoline with additives already does the job quite efficiently. The high-octane one will not bring any benefit to an engine that is not prepared to burn it. That is: you will only spend money for nothing.
He said that this topic paid off! Next week we’ll talk about fuel economy. So leave your comments here to enrich the discussion.
