Too young to be among the 2010 world champions, but early enough to finish among those who won the European Championship two years later, also entering the scoreboard of the final with Prandelli’s Italy. Jordi Alba is an institution of Spanish football and has been the undisputed and indisputable holder on the Blaugrana left wing for almost ten years. A footballer who basically doesn’t talk much, but who has always been very influential in the fortunes of the Catalan team, since he plays on the side of the pitch where Leo Messi is king. The Spaniard, however, manages to get everyone to agree in a rather particular way: when it comes to choosing the most hated players in La Liga, his name always comes out.
HATED – But he knows this and, speaking to The day after, explains that after so many years he has peacefully made up his mind. “If you only know me for what I do on the pitch, I am one of the most hated players in the world of football, I know very well. But it’s my way of playing. People who know me seriously know that I am humble and that Jordi Alba as a footballer has nothing to do with Jordi Alba, friend and teammate. It’s my way of playing, I’m a big pain in the ass and I understand that those who don’t know me can come to hate me ”. Also because, in addition to being annoying, the Spaniard is also a great full-back. It is therefore logical that the opponents prefer to see him as little as possible.
MESSI – On the relationship with Messi, Jordi Alba certainly cannot lie. They are the golden duo of the left wing and have been forming an exceptional partnership for almost ten years. “Leo and I are looking for each other a lot on the pitch, we always create dangers and scoring opportunities. If I can, I always try to give the ball to him, but now that the opponents know it I pass it on to the other teammates too! But these are not situations we work on in training, it comes naturally ”. And on the future of the Flea, what does the full-back say? It’s a wall… “Since the season started, we’ve never talked about it. I know I’m a better player when I have him on the pitch. And I hope he can stay at Barcelona for many more years, because it would be the best thing for everyone ”. Especially for Jordi Alba …
