Marino’s men beat Alvini’s grenade 2-0 and take third place at -5 from leaders Empoli
In the freezing weather of Ferrara, Spal completes the magical week after passing the round in the Italian Cup and also beats Reggiana 2-0 in the league. Marino and his team fly in the standings: third place at 32 points. Now leaders Empoli are five points ahead. Valoti takes the stage at the Paolo Mazza stadium, scoring on the development of a corner kick in the 38th minute, and D’Alessandro on the net ten minutes from the end. For Alvini’s men the negative moment continues: the last victory dates back to 6 December (3-0 against Monza). The defense leaks and the attack suffers. The goal has been missing from six games. The arrival of Ardemagni, immediately the owner together with the other Del Pinto, was not enough to solve the team’s problems.
In the first half it is Spal siege. Salvatore Esposito engages the opposing goalkeeper Cerofolini with a couple of dangerous free-kicks from outside the box. Reggiana holds, but a few minutes after the break she is surprised by Valoti who is good at exploiting the Missiroli side in the fray. In the second half, the grenades try to raise their heads with Ardemagni’s attempts. However, it is D’Alessandro, who entered in the 68th minute in place of Sala, to close the games. For Spal, three points in the safe and eyes on the top.
