The police union against Gianna Nannini for the latest music video of the Italian singer. The video of “The air is running out”, from the latest unreleased album by Gianna Nannini, has been on YouTube since mid-December. The clip, made with animation techniques, has created a lot of controversy due to the representation of the police that comes out of the video. In fact, for a few seconds, police officers appear, but they are pigs, while they beat people of color themselves on the ground in pain. The reference is also to the case of George Floyd.

The music video of Gianna Nannini
The animation video of the song “The air is ending” caused the police reaction. In fact in the clip the cops come depicted as pigs, with blue uniforms, who beat a black person. The reference to George Floyd, murdered in 2020 by the police while repeating “I can’t breathe”, is clear and is also included in the title of the song. The pigs are then also dressed in gray uniforms of the mobile department. The police unions intervened: “It is defamation”.
Cecchini: “They see fascism everywhere”
Interviewed by Ruetir, the secretary of Italia Celere, union of the Mobile Department of the State Police, Andrea Cecchini talked about defamation. “I guess it is no coincidence that the song linked to Gianna Nannini’s video clip is called ‘L’aria è finendo’. Obviously yes, oxygen is running out. Singers and commentators see fascism everywhere, but don’t dare to associate us with dictatorial regimes and pigs. We do not accept to see pigs in riot uniform savagely and brutally beating black people on the ground – Cecchini continues – and we no longer accept that the institutions never take a position. Making us pass as racist and violent is the demagogic art of an ideology that asks and wants only impunity for drug dealers, mobsters and murderers. But there is a limit to everything, and this is a beautiful and good, very serious and aggravated defamation ”.
Siulp Secretary: “We are good people”
“Gianna Nannini’s videoclip is certainly a big fall in style from the point of view of respect for the institutions and for the identification of police officers in public order with pigs”. So Saturn Carbon, Siulp secretary general of Rome, commenting on the video to the Ruetir. “Everyone has their own ideas, but what we have seen is shameful – adds the trade unionist. “The policemen and the Italian police have been indicated for many years as the most welcome institution of all. We are good people, we do our job and we also defend these people, who unfortunately are dispelling any doubts concerning the existence of psychological problems related to Covid “.
Coisp: “Insulting images”
“Some of the images contained in Gianna Nannini’s video clip are unacceptable, insulting, violent and instigate social hatred”, says the general secretary of the Coisp police union Domenico Pianese. “By representing police officers with a pig’s face and making them commit violent actions, he does not discredit himself only on the uniform and on the wearer every day, putting his own life at risk for the good of the community – says the trade unionist – but the democratic institutions that the police represent and defend are also discredited ”.
Sap: “I thought it was a fake”
“When I saw Nannini’s video last night, I even thought it was a fake, perhaps made in antagonistic environments. I’m ashamed for you I’m sorry you wanted to represent the members of the police force in this way ”, is the comment of Stefano Paoloni, secretary general of Sap. “I respect freedom of thought, but for years we have invoked transparency precisely in this sense also through cameras – adds the trade unionist – We would have preferred support in this direction, rather than highly questionable images, if not on the verge of offensive of the servants of our country ”, concludes Paoloni.
The League also took sides on the side of the Italian police officers. “I understand everything, the freedom of opinion, the intention to express concepts and ideas through provocations, but this video is a total offense. I believe that Nannini got carried away ”, says Gianni Tonelli, Northern League deputy and former general secretary of the autonomous police union. “These are devastating messages, we cannot raise the new generations by passing on the concept that those who enforce the rules, and therefore harmony and peaceful coexistence, are a negative entity that must even be identified as a swine. The forces of order are angels who allow everyone to cultivate their freedoms, forming themselves as fully as possible ”.
Tonelli: “Collect the video”
“If Nannini wants to do a battle of civilization, support my proposal for cameras on uniforms so that everyone can know the truth of the facts when they happen and are exploited by the usual anti-police party, or that on the adoption of adequate equipment for those who are work like a donkey, but it is neither a donkey nor a pig. I am very ready to meet you – he concludes – to illustrate the condition in which police operators have been working for too much and too mistreated, the disaster in which they defend a system that does not reciprocate them. I doubt he will want to meet me, the truth is a burden. I invite you to reflect, and perhaps to withdraw the video ”. >> All news
