The Bianconeri coach: “It won’t be easy against Udinese but we have a challenging January. There is everything to be able to do much better than how we ended 2020 “
It cannot be said that 2020 was for him, as for many, a year of forced braking, of steady slow pace. For Andrea Pirlo the year that has just ended has been a hectic one, virtually taking him to the Under 23 bench and shortly after to the nine-time champion Juventus. From there on the field, for the three points, with no time for tests or adaptations. 2021 will start in the same frantic way: three days and immediately a match, tomorrow against Udinese. Then two races a week, a January that risks becoming decisive. Before resuming racing, however, it was necessary for the coach to take stock with the team, in a meeting to see the mistakes but also think about the future. Pirlo today starts again from the microphones of Juventus.tv, with predictable confidence: “On Monday I found a team eager to restart after the last bad performance. We have almost all recovered and we are aiming for a good recovery in the championship. We talked about the match against Fiorentina, completely wrong in terms of attitude and everything, we couldn’t end 2020 like this. There was a good meeting: we talked and discussed future goals. It was also productive. January will be a very important month, we will have many games and different competitions including the Super Cup final: we will have to face them in the best possible way, there will be room for everyone and we will have to be ready ”.
The words must be followed immediately by the facts and the usual three “obligatory” points: “Udinese are in a good moment, they are a very organized team, very physical and with very good players in the counterattack, so we will have to be careful and have a careful match trying to be very good at making preventive closures on their attackers and their midfielders who are very technical: one, Pereyra, we know him because he played here with us. It will also be a tough race physically ”. The distance from first place is starting to be consistent, but Juventus have the means to try to close the gap, as the coach himself says: “I don’t want to see more matches like the one with the Viola, otherwise we have made a good progress in growing improving on many aspects. We have everything to be able to do much better, I am convinced ”.
